Jordan Caceres grew up in Highland Park, Northeast LA, turning a rough adolescence — instability at home, gang involvement, addiction — into poems and then raps starting in 7th grade. Her 2009 debut mixtape Castle in the Air, made with her brother/producer Louden, kicked off a run of 14 projects built entirely outside the major-label system. Her music confronts sobriety and mental health head-on, particularly within Latino communities, earning her a devoted underground following across the U.S. and Europe.
