Delmar Arnaud grew up in Long Beach and came up as one of the youngest in-house producers on the Death Row roster, with Dr. Dre taking him on as a direct understudy and putting him to work on The Chronic, Doggystyle and 2Pac's All Eyez on Me before he'd even released his own solo material. His fingerprints — a leaner, more minimal touch built around eerie keys and heavy low end — are all over "Ambitionz Az a Ridah" and a stack of other Death Row records, some credited to Dre that insiders say were really Daz's work. When Dre left the label in 1996, Daz effectively became its head producer. Half of Tha Dogg Pound alongside Kurupt since 1992, his 1998 solo debut Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back cracked the Billboard 200 top ten. After leaving Death Row he built his own lanes — Gangsta Advisory Records and D.P.G. Recordz — and has kept releasing music across 18-plus solo albums since.
