Dejuan Walker grew up between Gardena and Pomona, teaming up with DJ Quik, who produced his 1997 debut Street Gospel start to finish. His rapid-fire, conversational flow and pimp-rap subject matter made him a cult favorite well outside the mainstream charts — the Chicago Tribune called him "charismatic and funny," and he's stayed a fixture of the DJ Quik camp ever since. Still active decades in, including a 2019 comeback record, The Resurrection.
