Robin Allen came up out of Farmville, Virginia, and landed at Death Row Records in the early '90s, where her technical flow and hard-core lyrics put her on equal footing with a roster stacked with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. "Afro Puffs" became her signature moment, and her 1997 debut album peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart. One of the few women to hold her own in Death Row's inner circle at its commercial peak.
