Arturo Molina Jr. grew up between military bases in Germany and Guam before landing in East LA, starting out as a breakdancer for Uncle Jamm's Army before picking up the mic as Kid Frost in 1982. His 1990 debut Hispanic Causing Panic is widely credited as the first Chicano rap album, and its single "La Raza" — blending East LA identity into a genuine anthem — hit No. 6 on the rap charts and opened the door for Latino voices across West Coast hip-hop.
