Crawford Wilkerson came up out of Compton and built his name inside the DJ Quik camp, releasing his 1991 debut Skanless through Skanless Records and Hollywood Records — produced by Steve Yano, Tony A and Quik himself. Tracks like "Compton Hoochies" and "Funky Rap Sanga" captured the lighthearted, party side of early-'90s West Coast funk, and "Leave My Curl Alone" ft. Tony A stayed a staple of that camp's sound. A steady collaborator with DJ Quik, AMG and 2nd II None across the era.
